My Trip to Maine (and a little update)

Since Thanksgiving is just around the corner, I figured I’d write a quick post about one blessing in particular that God gave me this year: my trip up to Maine last month.

I am so thankful God allowed me to fly up there, as I got to see family I hadn’t seen since we moved away over four years ago. It was a wonderful week of fellowship. There were about fifty of us there. Almost all my cousins were there, and we had a great time. We played games, did a hike, and had a thanksgiving dinner. Four of my cousins and I were all born within four months of each other, and we’ve stayed in close contact over the years through a prayer group. We were able to get away and spend time together which was awesome. I was also able to meet my several children of my cousins whom I had not seen before!

One of the greatest blessings though is our common faith. God has blessed me with a huge Christian family, and it was amazing being able to talk and interact without fear of bad language, inappropriate topics, etc. I didn’t have to worry about alcohol or drugs being around. We were able to have biblical based discussions and conversations, and one night spent at least an hour singing hymns and Christian songs.

The only slight downside was a stomach bug that made it’s way around people throughout the week. Everyday, someone else would get it, which caused some family to leave a bit early, and others to miss out on the family pictures. My brother and I stayed in a camper with four cousins(all brothers) and one night three of them got it. That was quite an adventure. And while that may not have been all fun at the time, it’s something we can look back and laugh about.

God protected us through it all too, with the long flight my family took and the 10 hour drive my family from PA had. We had a layover in Chicago, and with our first flight being delayed twenty minutes, we almost missed our second flight. But we made it! On the way back, our first flight was 40 minutes ahead of schedule, which really lowered the stress for us. God protected us all throughout the entire week.

All in all, I am so thankful that God gave me the opportunity to go to Maine. I look forward to the next time!

On a separate note, I have just now realized that I have had this site up for over a year (I started it late September, 2020). I am very thankful I started it up, as it has kept me a little more focused on writing than I used to.

Currently, though, I’ve been a bit dry on ideas for short stories, and have not been working on any. However, I am in progress on a full-length story. I am hoping I can keep going and get it finished. One chapter has been finished. That has also been taking up more of my writing time, so posts here on the site might be slower. I am very thankful for those that have taken the time to read my writings and given me encouragement. I don’t think I’ll post the chapters here as I write them, but instead wait for the full thing to be finished.

My most read story is actually my most recent one, “Will Your Faith Stand?”, currently over 110 views! I did not expect it to get such attention. God used it far greater than I expected; I got many people tell me they were blessed by it, several of whom I didn’t even know knew about my site. I give God the glory for that and look forward to see how He will use this site in the future!
